the bathroom

So yes we are still working on the bathroom in the basement.
It is starting to come along nicely though.

At first we had great plans to save as much money as possible but as we started pricing, looking and actually building we decided we would rather have a room that we really liked and were proud of. That and I was going to be in it quite often as it was also going to be the laundry room.So ya we are spending a little more than originally planned but not too much too knock us on our knees. We are still within our means. Sortof. hehehe

The plumber did his side of things and added the base for the shower.

Then we called upon our friend Natalie who is a carpenter and who has a friend who is also a carpenter and doesnt mind doing weekend stuff and the two of them framed everything in for us and put up the drywall.
We did the taping mudding and sanding. Personally Turtle Guy, that is the WORST part of this all. We suck at sanding. We get about a C grade, acceptable but dont look too closely.

My washing machine and dryer are sitting in our TV room mocking me as I once again bring our clothes to the laundromat. Sigh.
That is the soon to be installed Toilet in its boxes sitting in front of them.

Then to the priming phase and two coats later I was able to paint yesterday and added the second coat today. It looks good and I think I can get away with the two no problem.

The photo doesnt show the green very well. It is a very lovely green called "farm life" from Rona. We used a more expensive paint called Expressions cause it has the mildew resistance stuff in the paint. It is a bathroom in a basement with no windows. Though we would be extra cautious.

Now we need to tile the floor and then put my washing machine and dryer back in. We designed it so we can put them side by side and not stacking. Very happy about this. We can then put a counter top across the top and that acts as a folding table and can even be a slightly high ironing table.

Our biggest problem has been the shower door. We want as much glass as we can to prevent a cramped feeling and the quotes I have gotten so far have made my heart stop. We have one more guy coming to give us a quote of Friday. I hope it is much more promising.

We framed around the hot water tank and heater. We are going to put bifold mirrored closet doors on there. Hubby and I were in Rona and went to look at closet doors and we both looked over at the mirrored ones and I went "what do you think" and hubby went "Ya. Perfect" and they only cost 25 bucks more than normal closet doors. Cool.

So we are busy and it is ok.
