I am a short girl from the west cost of BC, Canada and I am a proud Canadian. I went to Japan in 2000 because my Dad told me I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn't. He was right. I lived a good life found my husband from the other side of the world and have a beautiful daughter. Basically we lead a pretty normal life filled with normal ups and downs. We both come from different cultures: me Canadian, him Chinese. Living in Japan was a real eye opener about who I am and about the people I associate myself with. I lived and loved in Japan but the time to move on came upon us and in May of 2006 we left and moved to Canada: a huge move for us all. We are now trying to start up again, remodel our lives and create our future for our family. I now feel like a tourist in the country of my birth, my eyes see different and my life will be forever changed. This blog is my notes and observations of our life, our changes, our adventures and new beginnings. Welcome.

Tigers and Beer

I just returned to my desk and sitting on it was a package and a CAN OF BEER.
There was one on every desk in the office.
Hmmm.
Beer at work?
Not a bad thing. Most of these guys could do with some loosening up at work.
Well these presents were from our manager and one other guy in the section.
Why?
Because the Hansin Tigers won the Japanese equivalent of the World Series, and they wanted to tell all how happy they were. It was also a little bit of mud thrown at the about 5 other members of our section who are Giants fans.
This country loves baseball but they make it look like a military exercise.
Back home we all go crazy over baseball, football and hockey but here it seems different.
The fans are freaky. They actually have special people who are conductors of a sort helping the fans to cheer properly. (didn’t know there was a proper way)
Then there are the supermarkets.
Seiyu supports the Giants: Apita, the Tigers.
Last year there was a huge Seiyu sale: this year a huge Apita sale. I went crazy and bought some really cute dresses for JiXiang. Hehe
I wish I was not allergic to yeast so I could drink the beer. Then again, I am breastfeeding still and cant drink it any way.
Instead I will have to pretend I like the Onko (bean paste).
