Sunday, August 28, 2005 JiXiang is very tired. She has spent two weeks playing with her granny and she is now sleeping as much as she can. She slept all night and I even woke her up to make sure she eats. I am not complaining. Granny had been making her obstacle courses to occupy her, as the girl cannot sit still for even a minute, and now I cannot keep JiXiang in a room unless I close the door (Don’t like doing that). Pillows, chairs, books nor blocks keep her inside anymore. This I am complaining just a tiny bit about. Mom and I also agreed that I am probably only a few weeks away from having a kid who can stand without holding ANYHTHING. She can already hold with only one hand, can bend down and pick up a toy she dropped while only holding with one hand, and can shimmy side ways a few steps along the table if we refuse to give her something that she wants. AUGH!!! So I have some GREAT news. No not a visa. OK, I have some really good news. Li will keep his job!!!! His work people had given him a going away party, but were reluctant to do it. Right up to his last week of work (last week) they were trying to figure out how they could solve Li’s transportation problem. On Monday the boss came up with: Li goes to work every morning with the old men the same as he does now. He will go home via bus and he can leave everyday at 4 or 5 for all they care. He can get to the bus stop using a piece of shit bike that the company will provide. Li was not jumping at this idea. The bus costs 5bucks and it only comes once an hour until only 8 at night. Then it is a 40-minute bus ride. Then on Thursday (Friday was his official last day of work) his boss came up with: Li goes to work every morning with the old men the same as he does now. He will get a ride home with me (the boss) every evening at 6 just like he is now. They have already hired one other guy to work so even if Li goes home early there are two (there needs to be two) guys working still in the over time hours. AND!!! Li will no longer be an employee of the stupid Job Placement company (they take a piece of Li’s check) but will become a part-time employee of the company AND!!! He will get a small raise. Li completely agreed to this. It also means there is no contract paper to worry about and Li just works until we leave this country. As he told Mom and I this when he got home I could feel this HUGE weight being removed from by brain. He has a few more days of holiday when he gets back from Shanghai before he goes to work. In that time he MUST get his wisdom teeth pulled and I think it will also be time for JiXiang to get her polio. I need to talk to the health people then about JiXiang getting the meningitis vaccinations.
