Li got his new passport, so I have made copies and am sending them to the Immigration office.

Hopefully this will help speed up the visa process.
I have also made them a copy of a photo of Li, JiXiang and I. Yes we are a real family.

Yesterday, Sunday, the crazy old man saw Ji and I as we were going for a walk. Damn! He quickly zeroed in for attack and took her picture. He ran and grabbed a cookie for her and even gave it to her. I quickly snatched it away before she could do anything with it. She has no idea how to eat yet. You never hand a baby food without first asking the mother. That is basic common sense and courtesy, I think.
I was saved by his daughter (or daughter-in-law) coming outside, so I was able to get away.

This morning he tried to give me this bag full of food and bread. I was actually able to get him to take it back but telling him that I am allergic so can not eat it. This is not a total lie. I am allergic to yeast and limit my bread content to a very small amount. He looked all upset about this but I dont care. That and I am beginning to think that he has been raiding his wife's cupboards in the morning and taking what ever he can get his hands on. He actually gives me half eaten bags of food. It all goes into the garbage so dont give it to me. I have to start being a little more assertive with him as he will only start to piss me off other wise.

How do you know you have been in Japan for too long?
When being treated like a star and a novelty no longer impresses you. It actually annoys you. JiXiang has become the novelty now.
In my neighbourhood Li and I were just 'there'. We are the only foreigners that I can see and were tolerated as we were quiet and did our garbage properly. Well Ji is around now and all the old ladies want to see her. They now say hello every time and want to talk to me so they can talk to her. Hehe
In the paper the other day the population statistics came out for 2004. Now I knew that the population was aging but as of last year there were over one million people over 90!!! And last year there were just under 1.2 million babies born. That includes foreigner babies. But there were 800,000 deaths. That is scary. I didnt know it had gotten that bad here all ready. Mind you they did not add any population increase due to foreigner immigration in there. They generally like to think of foreigners as short term stayers who wont be here for ever. There was a report the other day saying how pets have replaced grandchildren.
Because of this JiXiang is gagaed over.
And everyone says she has my eyes. YAAA!!
