Candy

Uncle Bill asked about Candy.

Candy was the BEST PONY IN THE WORLD!!!
Anyone who met her would have agreed. That pony was not a pony, she was a baby sitter.
As long as there was no green grass around.
That pony could put her head down so fast for a single blade of grass she would make an adult fall over.
I remember my sister being knocked off of her by an open half door because of a blade of grass. Looked like something out of a cartoon. Vooopp!!!
I still giggle about it, although Alisha never did. Mom and dad became vigilant about closing the tops of the half doors after that and dad built a movable fence for the riding ring.

Candy was the Queen of a costume class, the head of any parade and loved by every child who saw her. Loved because she stood eye to eye with most children so they couldn't be afraid of her. She was ridden by everyone and loved by us all.
She also refused to die. Not even pancakes from the garbage bin at the fair were going to kill her. She was going for the Guinness book of records. She died in Agassiz at the home of some friends whose name I have totally forgotten.
She didnt die by herself in the field. Even after she had lost all of her teeth and her knees were buckling over, she still was fighting it. We finally helped her along as her body was totally giving out.
She had to have been close to 40. She never had registration papers, so we never really knew.

Even though she had lived for so long, I cried when she died.

There is a picture of her and Alisha on the Alisha web page
You need to go to photos and then to the very last one. That is Candy.
