Monday, March 21, 2005 One of the first things I noticed when I first met Li was that Chinese people count differently. With their fingers I mean. I don’t know about you but I count using both hands and my toes are sometimes required. To indicate ten to someone without speaking I hold up both hands. Well not Chinese people. They are able to count to ten using only one hand. I have never taken the time to learn their counting method as Li can speak English, but with his mom in the house understanding this has been important. To learn I asked Li to demonstrate and I took pictures of his hands. Here we go… Now number one and two are done the same as us BUT This is THREE ![]() Number four and number five are the same as us but this is number SIX ![]() The number SEVEN ![]() Then number EIGHT ![]() Now number NINE ![]() And last is number TEN ![]() Now you all have something to study and watch for the next time you visit China Town. Have fun!
