Tuesday, November 16, 2004 OOOOHHHHH!!! Here is an odddd Japanese tradition. Last year Li paid for his medical insurance like a good boy but never once went to the hospital or dentist. To thank him for not using the medical system, but continuing to pay, the city sent him a present. NO JOKE! A thank you present for not being sick!! He was given an electric toothbrush!!!!! Hehehe He then had to comment on the fact that if I had not dragged him to the dentist this year he would be getting another present. I dont care, his teeth were shit! I remember my dear friend Jean. Last year she was actually willing to hobble around in tons of pain and totally avoided going to the doctor to get a very bad ingrown toe nail fixed. WHY?! So that she could get the present from the city. This was until I explained to her that if she didn't get any medication bordering on penicillin soon she would probably have to get the toe nail removed. (Speaking from experience) She quickly decided that toe nail removal was not worth the present that she would get. I am of course exempt from this present thing as my medical insurance is not national but private through the company. I pay a bit more every month but I receive more coverage and perks so I guess I can not complain tooooooo much. Besides, Li gave me the toothbrush.
