Saturday, October 02, 2004 So I, as usual, can not really remember what I wrote before, but I am pretty sure I didn’t tell you about my great attempt to make my computer even cooler. Well it didn’t work. Now I would personally like to be able to write in Japanese on this computer and I would love it if Li could write in Chinese. It really would make the computer perfect. We had gone out and bought the XP home version, but in English, as I am the main trouble shooter and truth be told, I can not read ANY Chinese and only letters of Japanese. Having a computer that spoke in English made much more sence, and Li can read a bit. We just wanted some writing programs. Well I have Word, but my version is only a 95, which is pretty old by todays standards. A friend of ours has a Japanese computer with all Japanese programs, so we asked if I could borrow his Word 2000 in Japanese so I could install it on the computer. No problem he said. So away I went, trying to be all wiz kid. NOT. First it installed completely in Japanese, so I understood nothing of the comands. I just kept hitting yes and next keys. Well it installed no problems - only problem was that it installed over top of my old 95, so I lost my English version completely. This I think I can rectify. So the new word is totally Japanese. The top things are all in Japanese, the questions asked are all in Japanese. It is exactly what I wanted. One little problem – I can not write in Japanese. I change the font, and it changes back. I scream and the damn thing calmly writes in English. I am a tad pissed about this. It wont write in anything other than the Roman Alphabet!!! I of course questioned my computer students intensly and non have a bloody solution to my problem. If there are any wizs out there reading this some advice would be GREAT! Actually the one thing I have not yet tried is writing something on my work computer, saving it in a word format and then emailing it to my hotmail. Hmmm. Maybe I should do that to check if it even accepts Japanese font. Monday’s job – if I don’t forget. Which I most likely will. UGH. Hi Angela. So today is Saturday night and I just had dinner with Li. I feel like I am going to explode. I didn’t even eat that much. I fill up so fast these days that it is a little and offten srounging for food fest for me. I tear my desk apart looking for the snacks I know I bought and I am definitly eating more at home. Don’t worry parent people I am eating fairly well. My snacks consist of sunflower and pumpkin seeds as well as cream cheese stick thingys. I will admit that I do go a little crazy for vanilla icecreame but pffff to that. It is a little calcium. Hehehe Tomorrow I am going to go to the big Fujieda Matsuri. A Matsuri is a festival that usually involves these float things that they pull with huge ropes and chant. I am sure I mentioned them before. There are pics on my picture page in the Kanaya Tea festival section. Well the Shinto Shrine (I am sure it is Shinto as you have to pull the rope and clap three times) across from the City Office holds a huge festival once every four years. It lasts for three days and should be fairly exciting. I caught a tiny bit of it last time but I am determined to see a bit more this year. I want to see some daytime and night time stuff. Crazy Kim doesn’t know exactly how long she is going to stay in Japan, so she is determined to take it ALL in. She has been out there ALLLLL day soaking in as much as she can. Good for her but I aint joining her. Next weekend is the HUGE Obi Matsuri in Shimada. It is also once every four years. There are lots of pictures of the last one I went to on my pics page. It is very neat and soooo cultural. Kim heard that one of the obis (the belt around a kimono) that was to be worn durring the parade costs about 1,000,000 yen. That is 10,000 BUCKS!!! Yicks!!! I am sitting at home right now, alone as Li is at a friends house. I am typing this with RED nails. It was a nail day today and I changed my colour to a red with a tiny orange tint and had her out these orange lines across them. I think they look kind of cool. Li thinks I look like I stupid Japanese girl addicted to Louis Vitone. Well phewy on him. I like them. Hehehhe I am going to leave you off now and return to CSI season 3. Ahhhh. I do enjoy my TV shows.
