Li started work at 3 yesterday afternoon and finished at around 1 in the morning. He is very asleep right now.

I spent the weekend watching street performers.

This weekend in Shizuoka was the 48th annual Street performers competition festival. Four days of world wide coolness.
I headed out on Saturday with Li. We saw this great guy from the states and another group from somewhere in Europe. They were very funny as they were playing rock music and everything with children's toys, kitchen utensils and they make a wonderful drum set using their heads and empty plastic bottles. Very cool. We made the mistakes of leaving our spot to check out the action down the street and discovered that that guy was really boring. We went back to our old spot and it was VERY packed!! I stood on top of the chain link fence until a cop made me get down but I caught a piece of these crazy Canadians. They were called 'Circus Orange' and they were pretty crazy. The man at one point juggled a chainsaw (that was on!), a bowling ball and an egg all at the same time. I will admit that I was very impressed.
Li had to go to work after this and I wandered around until my nail appointment. After my appointment it was dark out but the festivities were still on. I caught a few more acts and ran, almost literally, into the stilt walkers. We actually had real live Star Trek Borgs walking down Shizuoka streets. Cool! And these giant butterflies. Hehehe
I sent the day on Sunday airing out all of our winter throw blankets and stuff. Lots of cleaning. A very productive day.
On Monday it was a holiday. Dont know why but who cares it was. Kim and I headed out to Shizuoka again and to our annoyance it was raining fairly hard. There was still some stuff going on though. There are a few performers that can do their acts in the rain. We watched last years champions from Australia. Two bulging muscle strong men that were pretty cool. Then we watched this crazy Belgian that I think was triple jointed. There is no other way to explain his abilities. Basically he took an ordinary coat hanger and he wiggled his entire body through it!!! I was impressed. Then he fit himself inside this child-sized barrel and walked around in it. I have no idea how the hell he did this.
By the end of this Kim and I were totally soaked.
We met up with Dan and Kyouko after that, watched another performer, this time covered, and then went for dinner and a drink.
I had a nice weekend.
