Wednesday, October 15, 2003 You have to admit that there are strange days and then there are really strange days. This article is about Japan, not Canada!!!! WOW!!! Bet ya it was double dared by its fellow bear friends!!! hehehe Bear charges through hospital waiting room -- twice MORIOKA, Iwate Pref. (Kyodo) A 100-kg bear twice charged through the waiting room of a hospital in the city of Ichinoseki, Iwate Prefecture, early Wednesday morning, local police said. The bear, believed to be an adult, entered the first floor of the prefectural Iwai Hospital through the automatic doors at the main entrance at around 5:45 a.m. It streaked across the outpatient waiting room before breaking through the glass doors of an emergency exit and escaping outside, police and hospital officials said. It then ran through the hospital parking lot to again come through the main entrance and leave via the emergency doors, they said. The animal was last seen fleeing toward nearby mountains, according to police, who added that no one was injured in the incident. The bear's paw prints were clearly visible on the hospital floor, and witnesses also reported seeing the animal slip on the smooth floor surface. The intrusions were no more than a few minutes long, but the handful of outpatients in the waiting room, as well as security personnel, all appeared stunned, according to witness accounts.
