We took off Friday morning and were back in Chilliwack around noonish. Did some last minute required shopping before returning the car. Went to dads and packed and washed clothes then headed to moms for dinner and sleeping.
The next morning mom drove us to the airport via dads so we could say good-bye. To my joy Uncle Bill was there and I got to say hi and bye. That made me really happy.
Headed off to the airport where the great Nils and Wonderful Z drove out to say goodbye. That was cool.
Got on the plane and had a very long 11.5 hour trip to Taiwan and then another 2.5 hour flight to Japan.

This is where the trip gets interesting.

The plane was late leaving Taiwan, so obviously late landing in Japan. We went through passport grabbed our bags, had a heart attack at my fragile box that looked like it had gone through tumble dry. By some miracle there was only one broken mug. Had an even bigger heart attack when I discovered that the bank machines were closed for the day. Thankfully I had brought some Canadian money back with me so I was able to exchange it but the rate was TERRIBLE!!!!!
Then we shipped our suitcase jumped on the bus and got to the Train station at 10 at night. The last train had been at 8:40 so we were obviously hoteling it. We checked in and I phoned my boss in the morning telling him I was not going to be in at work that day.
Then things went bad. AUGH!
We got to the train station at 10 in the morning. We were pretty sure we would be home by noon. Only problem is that we got on the wrong bloody train. We ended up taking a super express non-stop to Shin-Yokohama.
Now for most of you this makes no sense, as you are not from Japan. Basically we read the damn thing wrong (a mistake I blame on bad English) and went over an hour past the station we needed to get off at and then had to take another train for over an hour back. I was not in a very good mood.
We didn’t get home until 3.
But we are home safe and sound. Our cat was very happy to see us. We are unpacked and all of our presents have been distributed.
