Tuesday, September 30, 2003 The ferry ride was very nice. The weather was perfect and I took a bunch of pictures. Ruth was there waiting for us and she dropped us off at a little strip mall so we could walk around and stuff. Li who had his head screwed on right found perfect wine glasses for us in this little store and I found a great catnip present for Tintin. We had a busy dinner in a full house. Derek showed up from school with his coach and a tennis girl he plays with for a tournament that weekend. We got to watch Derek play that night which was cool as I had never seen him play. He won that game which was cooler. Hehhe Later he and Li played a bit of chess. Oh and Kira, you talk in your sleep by the way and scared the shit out of Li who thought you were talking to him when he headed to the washroom in the middle of the night. The next morning we were off to Victoria. This is where I regret our schedule slightly. We took the greyhound there and were not able to watch Stuart’s football game. I regret that now. I wish we had stayed and watched his game and then taken the train to Victoria. It would have been really nice to have watched Stuart play. We didn’t regret Victoria though. We got there and checked into our hotel. We took the local bus to the city center and were pleasantly surprised. All the buses were 25cents all day that day because it was Victoria market day. WONDERFUL! There were out door markets everywhere and street musicians on every corner. The wharf was full of art and crafts. Lovely and the weather was perfect. We went into the underground Aquarium. I liked that. Then we headed over to the Crystal Garden. We took sooooo many pictures there. IT is an indoor conservatory with animals everywhere and a small butterfly garden where the butterflies actually went on your hands. TONS OF PICTURES! Then we headed over to the Imax Theater and watched the T-Rex show and did a bit of shopping in the cool gift shop. The next day we didn’t really do anything. We did the long scenic walk all the way to town from our hotel and just walked all over the place. Had lunch in China town, which is really small. I don’t remember Victoria’s china town being only a few streets. There were a few out door markets still and the wharf was all full again. It was a relaxing do nothing day the whole day. We had a really nice dinner at this older restaurant and then went to a movie. Li had to watch an action with minimal dialogue so we watched ‘Underworld’, a very odd vampire and werewolf movie. We had to get up VERY early the next morning to catch the 6 o’clock bus to Vancouver because of the ferry ride. We had a beautiful ferry ride but we wouldn’t really know as we passed out. When we got to Chilliwack we rented a car and went shopping for our cabin trip. Li and I did a few minutes of yard work and trimmed black berries in the back ring. Hehehe
