Summer is over.
Literally.
We have had maybe two or three days of beautiful weather and the rest has been cloudy or rainy. My entire holiday week has been rainy. The past three days have rained. Now I don’t mean that light mist that we usually get in British Columbia during the winter that is not really counted as rain, I mean heavy bloody RAIN!! Yesterday’s news said that 468mm of rain had fallen in a 24-hour period. That was something like 20mm an hour. Well it rained just as hard today and it sucked.
It has been good in one sense though. Because of the rain I haven’t really been out of the house so I haven’t been spending any money. Very good for me.

According to the news it really is over. The weather now resembles the weather around the middle of October and the meteorologist people are saying that cold air is on its way.
GREAT!
*sarcasm at its highest*

Today I drove Kelly and a very obnoxious Erin to Shizuoka to watch the Australia vs. New Zealand rugby game. New Zealand won. The trains were stopped for some reason. Life is really screwed when it is. I ended up watch most of the rugby game and I think that I can actually follow a game now. I kind of sort of understand the basics of it. I am still a tad confused about the offside stuff though.
Oh and according to the bar owner in Shizuoka I have a twin named Lisa cause I really screwed him up.

So this week has been the Obon death week as I stated in my blog before. If you think about history and recall some of your history classes this week is a very symbolic death week for the entire world.

August 6 – My birthday. Personally very important, but I will agree that the bombing of Hiroshima is probably much more important.

August 8 – The bombing of Nagasaki

August 15 – The surrender of the Japanese imperial army.

This is also an EXTREMELY political week here in Japan. It is a time when Korea and China watch our Japanese officials very closely and many tempers flare up.
Japan has a very famous shrine called the Yasukuni War Shrine. It was built as a memorial to the dead who died in battle. The problem is that many of the dead who are written on the plaques at this Shrine are men that many consider war criminals. When ever a Japanese president goes to this shrine people start screaming that they are supports of war and of the criminals and should have more consideration and blaa blaa blaa. The news is full of the ministers who went and their exact words said in their speeches. Thankfully Koizumi did not appear this year. He stayed in Tokyo. UGH! What a headache.

Anyway I have spent my week basically sleeping, thinking and relaxing. Watching movies and studying Japanese. I had a Japanese class on Wednesday and she made it a listening class. I was very happy with my self. I was a star. Made me feel really good. Boosted up my ego a bit. Needed that.

Well nothing else to tell ya at this moment.
I have been writing this for a few days now. IT is now Monday and yesterday rained just as much. Sucked!! And today I am back to work and it is bloody sunny out!! Murphy’s law!!!
AUGH!
So not fair.
Yesterday Li and I watched ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. I really enjoyed it. I thought that Johnny Depp made a wonderful Pirate.
I do hope my little Chinese boys are able to pick it up for us when they come back from China with many DVD’s for me.
Ahhhhh.
Today I went home for lunch. Felt good. Going to continue doing that 2 days a week. I think it will do Li and I good.
Only 3 weeks to go. I am actually getting nervous.
hehehhe
