Monday, May 12, 2003 Well I am ok. I seem to have gotten everything out of my system and am moseying along as my normal self. I went for a long ass walk as I said I would. Cranked Dave Matthew’s up really loud on the MD Walkman and just went strolling. No speed shit or trying to actually exercise just strolling strolling strolling. It was perfect weather and I had no obligations. Great. I bought some food, Li came back from job one and we had dinner together. I got a message from a guy friend that he was having a BBQ. Too late for that but I decided to head over after I washed up. It had started to spit rain but nothing too spectacular. It takes a good 20 minutes of strong peddling to get to Kelly’s house but it felt really good and added to the release of energy that I obviously needed. There were 5 of us in total at Kelly’s house eating the last of the BBQ food – baked potato ohhh yaaaa – and watching South Park. What a stupid TV show. I am sorry. I understand the jokes but most of them I really do not find amusing. This TV show and The Simpson’s have no place for me. But now I have viewed a few and can relate more to the jokes that Kelly is talking about. I slept really well last night and had a pretty good day at work. My poor husband is crashed out on the couch right now while I type this and horf down a giant salad and drink pomegranate juice. First time. Bought it yesterday and thought what the hell. It is a little strong, so I mix it with Canadian GingerAle. Any way my poor husband… One of his Chinese friends had called him up and asked him to help him out today. He can not speak that much Japanese yet and he wanted to do his driver’s test. Li of course said yes and was off to the station to meet him at 8’30 this morning. Poor guy because he had to work last night and didn’t get home until 1:30 am. The bloody test lasted all day. It didn’t finish until 3 and they got back to Fujieda at 5. He has to work at 7 tonight. His friend, Guminxian, is a really nice guy. He is one of a few of Li’s friends who have told him that I am a perfect wife and does not give him shit about me not being Chinese. Yes Li gets this shit. Racism happens all around. Anyway this guy is about 33 and he got his driver’s license in Shanghai, a VERY busy city, and was a taxi driver for 12 years. He did the written test, no problem because it is written in Chinese. 100 percent. It is only ten stupid questions that Li said he knew and Li has never driven a car. (Something that he does want to rectify at some point.) Li had to go in the car with him because he can’t speak Japanese. This was not a problem. HE FAILED! WHY! Because he crossed his hands over the steering wheel when turning left and right instead of keeping the perfect 3 and 9 position at all times!!!! Was he a little pissed? OHHH YAAAAA!!! My friend Janet failed her test the first time and from what I have heard around the grapevine every foreigner fails the first time. The reasons are usually pretty pathetic. I plan on doing my test at some point this year but I am not really looking forward to it. hehehe Gotta go.
