A mom's day

Happy Late Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there.

My Mother’s Day with my mother didn’t go quite as planned – the sun didn’t shine.

I really wanted to go to the Sandcastles at Harrison but DAMN was it cold. The wind coming off that lake was eekky. Even ToddlerJi complained, and she doesn’t normally complain.

We did go to Harrison for their Mother’s Day brunch – never doing that again. WOW! Their normal brunch is excellent but this one was held in an extra huge room with a mandolin player crooning to us. Now he was great but the food was crappy and they had nothing even there. They didn’t even have a fruit platter so finding something that ToddlerJi would eat was almost impossible. Then the bill came. WOW!! $37 bucks a person and they charged half price for ToddlerJi a TWO-YEAR OLD! Ya not.

But after we decided to go on a Fraser River tour and check out the “scary river”. I kept telling ToddlerJi it was the “scary river” so that she would get it into her head that standing near the bank would freak mom out!

In our driving around Mom had us go along the back roads of Agassiz and came upon this lovely little tea room farm in the middle of know where.

The barn / store was lovely and the tea room sold herb teas made with herbs grown right there on the farm and totally organic foods with most of the stuff grown locally. Their gift shop was VERY reasonably priced and I bought my mother and I these awesome baskets that are perfectly designed to hang on a wall and hold funky dried grasses and such. Now I need the dried grasses. Hmm

This place offers cooking classes using local herbs and a class on herb propagation and lots of interesting things.

But this event is definitely something I am marking on my calendar!

GARDEN ART WALK
June 30, 10am - 5pm.

Various gardens throughout the Agassiz area will host local artists. Join us for an event that blends the appreciation of unique gardens and artists. Maps will be available at various locations including our farm. Limbert Mountain Farm will host a variety of artists in our herb gardens.
Our Tea House will be open from 12 noon until 4pm.

I am going to be going on this very cool circle tour! Hope some of you can join me.
