Reading colouring books in bed

I am having a hard time finding time to write here these days – I am so busy. That and ToddlerJi has insisted that we lay down in bed with her for a few minutes when it is time for her to go to bed.

I have tried all the SuperNanny methods and listened to friends with all of their methods and tried them all but in the end I only see my kid after work and I enjoy the half hour that I spend with her cuddled up next to her. If laying down with her to make her sleep better works then I am willing to do it. I know that this is not a forever thing. I don’t see this being a problem when she is 16. I will be lucky if I am allowed any where near her bedroom door when she is 16, so I have decided to not complain about it.

She also really likes me to sit in the bathtub with her. We have been having baths together since she was a month old and she doesn’t complain – neither do I. It is another way of making me set the world aside for a little while and spend time with her. I don’t see anything wrong with that.

The down side is doing my homework and house work far too late at night.

Last night ToddlerJi asked me to read her a story in bed. She chose a colouring book for me to read to her. I didn’t want to turn on the light because that totally defeats any attempts at getting her to fall asleep, so by the faint glow of the Winnie-the-Pooh night light I could see the outlines of the drawings and I made up a story about Aunt Butterfly Alisha and all her animal friends. (see left side bar if you don’t know Alisha.)
This led into us talking about Alisha and me having a teary night.

I didn’t do any homework or house cleaning last night. I instead went to bed very early with a headache and slept all night. I still have a headache from crying. I haven’t had one of these days for a while. I guess I was due.
Feels good to cry once and a while – cleans the system out.
