Gobble Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadians out there!

Yes it is Thanksgiving weekend, a weekend of family dinner feasting – Turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. Yummy.

Only problem is that my father is off to Whistler for a week and is having Thanksgiving dinner up in Whistler and they are bringing their German exchange student with them for the week as well. They invited my overly wonderful step-brother (who thankfully got my spy ware infected computer running yesterday, stupid spy ware! LOVE YOU N!) his lovely Z and beautiful baby boy to dinner. I am pretty sure that the step-sister that lives in Whistler was invited and judging on the present company I am assuming that the other step-sister was also invited.

But Li, who has never had Thanksgiving before, ToddlerJi, their only granddaughter, and me my fathers actual child (and I haven’t had a family dinner Thanksgiving in 6 years) were NOT invited to Thanksgiving dinner.

Yup you read that correctly – NOT invited.

To put it mildly I was hurt beyond what can be typed on this page.

I mentioned this oversight at dinner last night (I found out about all being invited yesterday) and my father said not a word and after some quick thinking my step mom said that she didn’t think we would want to drive up there.

Didn’t ask though did they.

My first Thanksgiving weekend in six years, but hey, I haven’t felt like part of the family since I got back from Japan and I can assure you this has definitely reinforced that feeling.

I am probably going to get a gazillion tons of flack for writing this on my blog but you know what I DON’T CARE. They hurt me! I was crying to Li last night about it and ya, he is not happy as well.

Thankfully my mother came through a few days ago when she heard we were doing absolutely nothing this weekend (before I found out that everyone was invited to dinner but us) and has invited us to go to a BBQ that she was attending at her friend’s house. She was still planning a Thanksgiving dinner on Monday, one that we had been invited to well over a week ago when it was planned.

To top everything off, Li has gotten two days holiday to celebrate Thanksgiving with family. Well at least he will be with me and ToddlerJi - whom he says is his only real family here in Canada anyway.

What am I thankful for?

My husband who keeps me sane and I love him.
My daughter for every reason.
My mother who keeps coming through when I need her most. She seems to be the only one who does these days.
