Thursday, September 29, 2005 A Day in the Life of Andrea Today is supposed to be a day off, but it has been the MOST hectic day from the moment I got up this morning. I had not had the greatest of sleeps as I was a tad worried about JiXiang. Her fever had gone way down but there was still a tiny bit there. She also was not in the best of moods every once and a while. I still believe it is due to teething. If she puts her thumb in her mouth she is fine but if she plays with her toys and puts them in her mouth, OUCH! Screams erupt and a hug is demanded from her. She then proceeds to tell me how it is my entire fault and strikes out at me while she is doing her talking whine. Then the head goes ‘THUMP’ onto my chest, the thumb is inserted and she mumbles to herself for a while. I really hope this bought ends soon. We just got back from her polio drops and now she will be dealing with the fevers and upset stomachs from that as well as new teeth. Being a baby is not fun. I slept in for all of 20 minutes today, but it felt good. From there it was washing the sheets, to washing the clothes (sunny day today), to washing the baby and then washing me. Hanging up the clothes, eating some food, and feeding the baby. Answering the phone, answering the door (Census lady), then reading my email and getting annoyed. Then phoning the doctor in the Insurance center to make sure it was ok for Ji to have her polio if she was not feeling 100%, to calling the doctor in Tokyo to create another headache for myself. I will dwell into this problem in a second. Flying on my bike to the post office to send a special money mail thingy to the doctor in Tokyo, flying back home a bit late due to a clerk in training (Murphy’s Law) to meet Yoko and her sister who had come by to pick up some of my old baby stuff that I no longer needed. Her sister is having a baby next month and was very happy to be getting a bunch of free stuff and my closets were happy to be breathing again. Then it was feeding JiXiang again, giving her a nap, talking to dad, finding time for me to have a granola bar, then, heading off to the insurance center by bus with Ji to get her polio drops. An hour and a half later, drops are given, information is obtained and booklets are almost left behind. Back onto the bus and to our bike to go back to the post office again to put money into our post office bank account so that our bloody visa bill is covered, than to Seiyu to buy some food for the empty fridge. We are having Nabe tonight because it requires no preparation. I have now finally fed JiXiang, brought the sheets in, put the food away and horfed down some supermarket sushi. I am ready for bed and it is not yet five. The joys of being a working mom with a day off. My biggest headache has been Li’s Canada visa. I am starting to think we are never going home. We have done everything right, the MP man says we have done everything right, the doctors office sent the medical papers the way they said, I have proof of shipping, AND still the Embassy claims they never got the paper work and they CLAIM that they have sent me three letters telling me this although they have remained mom as to why only ONE ended up in my mail box. The thing that is almost pissing me off more is that the Embassy people will not acknowledge any of my letters asking for information but responded immediately to the MP man. I AM THE ONE WHO PAID THE 2000PLUS DOLLARS!!! IT IS MY FAMILIES LIFE THAT IS ON THE DAMN LINE!!! AUGH!!! The MP man recommends that we send the medical papers again. RIGHT…. (snarky sigh escapes) I had the office send COPIES of the original but there is, of course, no copy of the X-Ray film. You can be guaranteed that the jerks in Manila are going to want that stupid film. And to make my life more difficult you can bet that the will only accept the film from the same or another Embassy certified doctor. A film from my local hospital won’t cut it. Then we are going to have to spend another 500plus dollars taking a day off, buying Shinkansen tickets and heading to Tokyo, paying the doctor all for a stupid film that they already have. Holly!! I will take your chipped tiles any day of the week right now.
