Thursday, May 19, 2005 Here is a sad look at the social situation here in Japan. Yesterday Li had a holiday. He had to do his Japanese visa. Well JiXiang had gotten a little more sick. She now had a fever and a bit of diarrhea. Neither of us were happy with this and the day care ladies were worried about the diarrhea. Li decided that he would get to the visa office as early as he could and then take JiXiang to the doctor in the afternoon. I brought Ji to the daycare in the morning. She was so odd. She had a fever but was all giggly and playing. She didnt look sick. hmm Li finished all of his visa stuff around 1ish and headed to the daycare. The lady there phoned the doctor that we are supposed to start using, but he is closed on Thursdays, of course. Li had to bring her to the hospital. The lady then phoned the hospital as Li was a bit worried he would have trouble explaining everything to the doctor. The daycare lady is on the phone talking and she tells the lady that the babies father is going to bring her in. - WHAT? The father! Where is the mother? Li could hear the ladies voice clearly. Then he is at the hospital sitting in the waiting area and he is the only father there. All of the woman were staring at him. When it was their turn to talk to the doctor, the nurse lady was just staring at him. Finally she goes, - She doesn't cry when you hold her. She just looks at you and smiles. You must hold her often at home. And people are wondering why the youth in this country are starting to turn into juvenile delinquents. .... So JiXiang has a cold mixed in with the immunization blues. Not surprising seeing as Li and I both have a cold as well. As I said earlier, Ji had a fever but was all goofy and playing like normal. The doctor looked at her, -This baby is not sick! The doc said that it was probably just a cold but if Li wanted they could do a full check just to be sure. Li decided that he was there already so they might as well check her out. JiXiang and Li were subjected to an hour and a half of blood work and lung exams. JiXiang is totally fine. This actually relieves me as I was worried about her lungs. NO PROBLEMS! Everything cost only 5bucks! This is not because of an amazing health care system, it is because I pay a monstrous 200bucks a month in medical just for her and I. That and all babies enrolled in the health care system only have to pay 5bucks every time they go to the doctor (up to 4 visits a month) until they are 5 years old (I think that age).
