Tuesday, February 22, 2005 Angela is back from her holiday back home in the states – HI ANGELA!! And Shantelle (spelt wrong) is here! Haven’t seen her yet, though. Hope I do if we can find the time. I haven’t seen her for a few years. JiXiang and I have been spending our days sleeping in the morning. She has settled into a fairly routine night schedule that I hope she keeps to. The books don’t look very promising that way as they warn that babies tend to suddenly change their schedules at 6 weeks. UGH! Basically now she doesn’t settle down until midnight, then wakes up at 3 in the morning and unfortunately takes a little over an hour to settle properly after that. She tends to eat small amounts and cat nap for an hour. I cat nap when she does or I would go crazy. She then wakes up at around 7 or 7:30. This would be great except that Li is up at 6:20 and the alarm gets me up as well. UGH! But I pass out quickly until she wakes me up. I have noticed that I can do this schedule no problem for about 2 days and pop out of bed after her 7 o’clock feeding, have a shower and start to be active. Then on the third day I pass out again until her 10 o’clock feeding and usually have trouble finding time to have a shower that morning as she tends to be very alert after 10. Basically she cat nap/sleeps all day with fairly regular feedings. She is totally alert in the evening when her daddy comes home and that tends to be her playing time. Makes her tired, so that is ok. There was one day where I didn’t use the patience to make her fall asleep after her 7am feeding and she was basically awake ALL day. She was soooo tired and cranky in the evening that both Li and I were actually laughing at her, which pissed her off. I have discovered that she has a definite difference in her crying and her pissed off cry is really pissed. She speaks cry words and her face goes all pouty. It is a little funny. If you mimic it she stops crying and glares at you with this major pouty mouth. Hehehe All mothers want a genius baby so I am proud to say that according to my books my darling girl is a little advanced in some areas. Ahhhhh It says that they smile socially at six weeks – naaaaaa – she has the smile totally under control. It says that the cooing sounds start at six weeks – naaaa – she started a few days ago. It is really cute!! Standing with support starts at three months – NAAAA – she loves to stand when you hold her up. She even puts full support on her feet. She also loves to do this kicking game that we started because my arms die other wise. She pushes up and we pretend she is a slingshot and pop her high into the air. She loves it. She is also starting to do some talking to her self before she cries in the morning. This is nice as I then wake up before she cries. Ahhhh She is also EXTREMELY alert and loves to look around. This has good and bad points. So basically we spend our days with me trying to keep the dust bunnies at day. They bloody multiply faster then I can vacuum. Dries me crazy!! We also go for a walk every day if the sun is out. She usually falls asleep in her carrier and I am considering buying a used stroller soon. We also do the odd shopping when it is necessary. Today I bought a new pair of shoes. Wont tell Li about that one. Hehehe Yesterday I got my nails done and she was such a good girl! I timed my appointment for right after her feeding in hopes that she would sleep the whole time and SHE DID!! What a good girl! She slept through the girls googling over her and loving her nose, which they said is totally not an Asian nose as it is not pushed in. Good. She even slept through all of my nail girl’s students showing up. Why do people seem to think that if they stand at the other end of the room and smoke it can not be smelt at the opposite end?? Stupid people! That was when I decided that my nails were dry enough to leave. By some miracle I did not destroy a single nails. Not sure how I managed that. The other day on our walk we discovered a beautiful Jinja shrine just around the corner from us on this tiny hill that had been transformed into a wonderful park.
